Qualche numero dall’Osservatorio sulla censura di Internet in Italia realizzato da Marco d’Itri:
5.495 siti web sono attualmente censurati in Italia
- 45 con singoli provvedimenti dell’autorità giudiziaria o di organi amministrativi
- 1.153 dal CNCPO (Centro Nazionale per il Contrasto della Pedopornografia Online).
- 4.297 da AAMS (Agenzia delle Dogane e dei Monopoli, già Azienda Autonoma dei Monopoli di Stato).
Come spiega la pagina Tecnologie del sito dell’Osservatorio, la censura in Italia viene attuata dagli Internet Service Provider con una o entrambe questi sistemi:
- Falsificazione del dominio – L’ISP configura i name server usati dai propri clienti in modo che rispondano che il dominio non esiste, oppure che dirigano la richiesta verso specifici server web contenenti una pagina di errore.
- Intercettazione del traffico verso l’IP – L’ISP agisce sulla propria rete in modo che il traffico diretto al IP del server che ospita il sito censurato non sia inoltrato a destinazione.
E’ utile sottolineare che la censura attuata con questi metodi è facilmente aggirabile, utilizzando name server alternativi. Molti utenti, per motivi assolutamente legittimi, fanno già uso di servizi differenti che non risentono del provvedimento censorio e anche per questo motivo – come conclude oggi Marco Valerio Principato su The New Blog Times – la censura attuata in questo modo è solamente un meccanismo dall’efficacia nulla e dai costi tutt’altro che nulli, sia per i provider, sia per le Istituzioni.
